(24.) GOD IS LOVE.

THE Power of God, the Power which goes forth from the Father and the Son, the Power which breathed life into all things, is the Power of Love, the Power of diffusing blessedness. This is that Power, which called everything into being, and which reneweth life in all things at every moment. God created all things for His own glory, because all things are to the glory of Love, all things witness of Love, and declare the presence of Love. But He created nothing for His own glory, in the sense that dark and selfish men give to the word; for Love delights to shed itself abroad into everything. It is satisfied in itself already, and would bring all things to its own satisfaction.--Christmas Day, &c. p. 161.
